High-Light: Irving Penn

One of my favorite fashion photographers, Irving Penn, is known for his bold portraiture and unique take on the human form when isolated and decorated. He studied under Alexey Brodovitch, who is known for his work at BAZAAR. In Penn's work, he collaborates the object and the face perfectly, almost creating the human portrait as a still life when he adds food, and other strange props to his photographs. The man, known for his famous quote, "photographing a cake can be art", shows his viewers the power of arrangement.
